PENN COVE RESIDENCE

This cabin is situated on a lot at the entrance to Whidbey Island's scenic Penn Cove. The simple design responds to the client's budget and aesthetic preferences. The house is a rectangular box, raised above the site on steel pipe columns to capture views, increase privacy and create a carport. The metal stair retracts for security and privacy. Inside, a single large room contains living, dining and kitchen areas. At the back is a bathroom, small bedroom, and closet. Above these is an open sleeping loft. The stair to the loft continues up to a roof deck with spectacular views. Additional decks extend to each side on the main level. The exterior is painted metal siding. The house is sited to one side of the lot to allow room for a future, larger house to be built, at which time the cabin will become a guest house/studio/pool house.
