This house is situated on a waterfront bluff
overlooking Puget Sound's historic Penn
Cove. Its tall, broad form ensures that all
rooms have ample access to natural light
and views of the Sound, Mt. Baker and the
surrounding woods. Main living areas are
on the first floor, bedrooms and study on the
second, and the master suite on the top
floor, all connected via a sunlight-filled
stairway projecting from the main body of
the house. Rooms are light and spacious,
with large windows and simple finishes.
Doors from the living/dining area open onto
an outdoor terrace with steps leading to the
garden below. A separate garage with an
upper level guest quarters/studio is sited
perpendicular to the house, creating a sunny
southwest entry court. The house's simple
design and straightforward materials
complement its natural, wooded setting.
