MICHAEL JONES PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO

Portland, Oregon

This respected commercial photographer left a cramped upper-floor studio in the gentrifying Pearl District, for a large, raw industrial space in Northwest Portland. The new space offered high ceilings, abundant space, natural light, and at-grade access for moving equipment and props in for studio work, or out for working on location. Large spaces at the front, center and rear allow a variety of shooting configurations and accommodate the remarkable amounts of lighting, cameras, and other equipment needed for modern product and fashion photography. Blackout curtains control light and allow spaces to be separated or joined. Office, storage and work areas, plus a restroom and kitchen, occupy the perimeter. Finishes are simple and functional.
