Bend, Oregon
Owned by clients with automobile dealerships in several cities throughout the Northwest, this 8,000 sf facility occupies a prominent 101,000 sf site along Central Oregon Highway 20. Landscaped pedestrian walkways connect from sidewalks to building entries on three sides. The steel structure’s focal point is a twostory high sales/display space, around which offices and other interior spaces are organized. A glass wall extending across the main facade--deeply recessed to avoid excessive heat gain--bathes the interior in daylight. On the east side, a three-bay service and prep area opens onto a separate vehicle delivery lot. The facility has been remarkably successful, with sales far exceeding all projections.
This project was named AIA Project of the Month by the Portland Chapter/American Institute of Architects and the Daily Journal of Commerce.
