ARLINGTON HEIGHTS RESIDENCE ALTERATION

Portland, Oregon

This renovation transformed an uninspired, 1980’s Northwest Contemporary into a much more attractive, livable residence. On the outside, old windows were replaced, and additional ones added to capture light and views. A trellis at the roof terrace and new exterior trim were added, and the drab exterior was repainted a vibrant terracotta and white. Inside, spaces were rearranged and opened up to improve their livability. Cabinets, finishes and fixtures were replaced. New maple floors and white walls, tile, and cabinets reflect and magnify natural light, creating a dramatically brighter, fresher interior.

This house was featured in the Oregonian (*Contemporary Remodels”) and on the 1999 Portland Chapter/AIA Home Tour.
